INTRODUCTION TO ROBOTICS
WHAT IS A ROBOT
A robot is anything which supplements human. It is a simple and understandable definition of robot
Coming to the classification of robots, people around the world classify them considering various parameters.

My main aim in publishing this post is to help the students in building "wheeled robots".A wheeled robot is a robot which moves on wheels. These are further classified into 2 types
First we will consider the "non-programmable wheeled robots". Let me start with the parts of the simple four wheeled robot.
This is a simple chassis.Chassis acts as a base for the whole robot. On this we should mount our required things such as
motors, wires and any other different modules which depend
on our requirement. Simple chassis are made from sheet
metal, however we can make chassis from plastic, steel,
aluminium etc. Most important point is to check whether
our chassis can withstand the weight of other things or not.
Battery is the power source for the entire robot. These are rated according to the output voltage. It's quite comfortable to use a
12v battery but we must also check the current rating, it should not
be too high nor too low.High current may damage your motor wiring
So be careful while selecting battery.

CHASSIS
SIMPLE CHASSIS |

MOTORS
DC MOTOR |
Robots work on dc power. So,this is a simple dc motor.DC motors are
rated on the rpm(rotations per minute). There are different dc motors
ranging from 30rpm to 1000rpm. We can also find motors having rpm
more than 1000,which are specially designed to suite industrial applications. the torque produced by these motors are inversely proportional to the rpm of the motor. Suppose your robot need to climb
an incline and if you select a 1000rpm motor then your robot fails. As your motor has less torque it can easily rotate in opposite direction. So
your robot fails and it is always advisable to select a motor which can
accomplish your task.Generally 300rpm motors are advisable. There are different kinds of motors which will be discussed in the later posts
WHEELS
WHEELS |
Wheels are required for the movement of the vehicle. There are different kinds of wheels.Selection of wheels depends on the surface
on which they are used. For plane surface like floor we can use smooth
wheels. But for sand and mud surface it is better to use wheels with grooves on them.
BATTERY
12V BATTERY |

12v battery but we must also check the current rating, it should not
