Sketching is the basic two dimensional figure, by which a 3-D object can be developed using some material operations. Every software has their own sketching GUI and options, but NX sketching is very easy and it has a decent GUI.

Let's start with the basic options of sketching

  • PROFILE : It is a continuous curve, where in the curve can be a line or an arc. There are types of drawing these lines and curves which you can see in the video.

  • LINE:  This is a simple line, whereas we have 3 different types of lines, but these lines are shown only in drafting workbench. In part modeling we have only one type of line i.,e, line between 2 points.

  • CIRCLE:  Circle can be drawn in two ways, one by giving centre and radius and the other way is by selecting 3 points.

  • RECTANGLE: Rectangle can be drawn using by using 2 opposite points, or by 3 point method or by selecting midpoint and other two points so that we can get our required rectangle in any orientation.

  • ELLIPSE:  It can be drawn using a midpoint and by giving the dimensions of the minor and major axis.

  • SPLINE:  It is basically a smooth curve which is drawn using control points, by changing the control points we can change the spline.

  • POLYGON:  We can draw any polygon with any number of sides using this option wherein you need to specify the inscribed radius.
