Revenge and Hate - an Indo-Pak Story
For a typical Indian, it is most natural to grow some sort of hatred to Pakistan. Same is the case in Pakistan. From cricket to Kashmir, we fight on almost everything. When it comes to cricket, we don't mind losing matches with Zimbabwe, but when it comes to the match between India and Pakistan, losing the match will be castigated. Thanks to media and movies for promoting the hatred. I have tried to explore the proper reason to hate each other, but failed. Do we really need to hate each other?
This is a short story to change our mindset.

Siachen glacier, Indo - Pak border:
That was the moment, the moment they were waiting for years. Neither the pouring down rain could put down the flames of hatred burning in them nor the icy winds of Siachen could freeze it. Bikram Roy and Aslam Buledi were standing opposite to one another with their assault rifles pointed.
Bikram Roy is an elite soldier who won Vir Chakra (India's third highest gallantry award) for his supreme valor of killing 37 Pakistani soldiers and knocking down 2 of their military tanks while commissioned at Ladakh.
Hilal-i-Jur'at (Pakistan's second highest gallantry award) Aslam Buledi thwarted the enemies from encroaching the Lahore front with an exemplary courage by killing 16 Indian soldiers and destroying 3 military outposts.
Bikram is an Indian, Aslam is a Pakistani. They don't require any other reason to hate each other. Between them, nothing exists, except hate. Three bullets punched into Bikram's chest piercing apart his flesh. Bikram too gifted Aslam a head shot. In a few seconds, both of them collapsed to the ground with a great sense of satisfaction, the satisfaction of avenging their unknown hate.

80 years earlier,
Their grand parents Pratap Roy and Rasheed Buledi too died, died together fighting the British, in Indian freedom struggle.

Long before in 1947, India and Pakistan were separated breaking the hearts of millions of people. Since then, politicians were successful in inducing hate between each other. We may not become one nation again but at least our attitude towards each other could be changed. After all, we are brothers. What do you think?
For this generation this looks pale, but hopefully with future generations our relationship improves.
ReplyDeleteNearly, 1 million people died till now due to the conflicts between India and Pakistan. I too hope that indo-pak relations improve in future. Thanks for the comment :)

ReplyDeleteThank you :) Yeah, it is a sad fact. Hope our attitudes towards one another change positively in future.
