discrepancies in the theories, there are many mysterious places in this world
that have unexplained paranormal activities. Even paranormal activists who went
for disproving them were questioned with certain incoherent situations. Many
strange happenings and ghostly presences were reported by visitors in those
places.

13. Château de Châteaubriant, France:

This haunted castle
was built during the medieval period in the 11th century, but the story began in the 16th century. The popular legend involves the story of Françoise de Foix and
her husband Jean de Laval. Francis I, the king of France asked Jean de Laval to
help him in the court matters and Françoise de Foix followed her husband. She
became an Abigail to the Queen and also became king's mistress. Françoise de
Foix died on October 16th, 1637 and it was rumored that her husband discovering
the relationship with the king, locked her in a room. Later, he poisoned her to
death. It is believed that the spirit of Françoise de Foix would walk in the Château on every midnight of October 16th.

Raynham hall of
Norfolk, UK is one of the most haunted places of the world which is well known
for the ghost of "The Brown Lady". The ghost was named so as it
appears to be wearing a brown brocade dress. The Brown Lady has been spotted many
times, but it was in 1936, when a photographer from Country Life Magazine avowed
to have captured the image of the ghost, Raynham Hall was first exposed to the
world.
According to the
legend, the ghost of Brown Lady is presumed to be of Lady Dorothy Walpole
(1686-1726) who was the sister of first prime minister of Great Britain, Robert
Walpole. The story tells that Dorothy furtively held a relationship with Lord
Wharton and discovering the affair, Charles Townshend, the husband of Dorothy
locked her in a room in the castle and she ended up dying there. There was
another story associated with the Brown Lady. Dorothy's affair was discovered
by Wharton's wife and she invited Dorothy to stay for a few days. She somehow
managed to inveigle her and Dorothy died in there. It was from then believed
that her soul is restrained to haunt the castle.
11. Highgate

Being a burial spot,
Highgate cemetery became the most sought-after haunted places of UK. By the 20th
century, tens of thousands of people had been laid to rest in its hallowed
ground. It has been long known for its ghosts and sinister activities. A man
whose car broke down near cemetery reported that he saw a hideous apparition
with glowing red eyes. Another famous one was a phantom of Highgate vampire and
this led to the hunt for the spirits by using cameras but they could not find any.
Beside this, there were other ghosts : an old woman running between the tombs
searching for her children, a shrouded figure gazing into space and vanishing
suddenly. Regardless the ghostly presences, the eerie appearances and the
horrible mournings had made it most haunted for those who
would like to experience the paranormal.
10. Monte Cristo

This sprawling
mansion has earned dubious accolade of Australia's most haunted house with a
history of grisly incidents. As per the legend, Mrs. Crawley, the owner of
this house in the state of dejection of her husband's death, locked
herself in the house and never came again for the rest of her life. It is said that
her spirit haunts the people who come over to stay in that mansion. In addition
to this, there were incidents of a boy burnt alive in the stables, a girl died
when pushed by some unseen force, shrills and weepings of a woman and
suffocation experienced due to breathlessness in the mansion. However, it was
now owned by Reginald Ryan and allowing visitors to stay at the mansion for
ghostly experiences.
9. Eastern State

It has become one of
the famous destinations for ghost hunters since it has opened to the visits.
This famous Gothic carved building which was built in 1829 and served as a
prison for many years. Moreover, it is best known for confining solitariness to
the prisoners. A famous incident took place in this former prison in 1929
involving the inmate Al Capone, who was arrested for possessing illegal weapons.
Meanwhile,during his stay in prison, he was tortured by the ghost of James
Clark who was killed previously by him. Reports of the prison include : Shadowy
figures that vanish when approached, an evil cracking that is heard from cell-block 12, a dark figure that is witnessed in the guard tower, shadowy
figures sliding down the wall in cell-block 6, ghostly appearances in cell-block 4 and along with these, banging of doors, distant footsteps can also be heard.
But these cells are not open for public visits.
8. Screaming Tunnel, Canada :

who doesn't believe in ghosts, then visit to screaming tunnel in Ontario, your
perspective will surely change. The screaming tunnel is a railway line which
connects Niagara falls to New York and Toronto. The legend of the screaming tunnel begins with a young girl who happened to be unfateful.
She used to live in a farmhouse on the Southern side of the tunnel along with
her father. One night, her house was caught up in flame and she ran away from
the building with fire set of her clothes and got perished in the tunnel. In
addition to this, there are other versions of the story. Some say that she was
set to fire deliberately by her furious father while some say she was raped and
buried her in the tunnel to conceal their evidence. Anyone who lit a
matchstick there in that tunnel, they can hear the screaming voices of that
young girl.
7. Changi Beach,

Western tip of Singapore is one of the oldest and most beautiful beaches in the
world and one with a horrible history the world ever had. Despite the serene
climate today, this ground served as a battleground where Chinese soldiers
were tortured and killed by the Japanese suspecting them of indulging in
anti-Japanese activities. Beach goers today report the cries and screams of the
Chinese soldiers. Some people even report headless Chinese soldiers lying over
the beach and some deep pits that are dug for burying dead bodies. As
a consequence of these reports, Changi beach stands as one of the
most horrifying places in Asia.
6.Berry Pomeroy Castle, Totness, UK :

With a colorful history of intrigue and claimed apparitions, Berry Pomeroy Castle in Totnes, is a very famous castle in England. It was built in the 11th century by the Pomeroy family. Passersby near this castle inform especially about two female ghosts - The White Lady and The Blue Lady. According to the popular legend, the white lady is believed to be the spirit of Magaret Pomeroy, who was tormented and killed by her evil sister, Eleanor and now is haunting over the dungeons while The Blue Lady was the one who killed her own baby as it was sired by her own father. It is said that The Blue Lady calls the passersby for help at twilight and kill them when approached.
5. The Tower of

nearly a thousand years, the Tower of London stands as a most prominent buildings
in the world. There is no doubt that this building is the most haunted place in the UK with the occurrences of the numerous number of executions, murders and
torments that took place inside its walls over its long history. There
are many ghost stories involved with the Tower of London, but the famous ghosts
are of Arbella Stuart and Henry VI. In addition to these ghosts, there were
reports of other ghosts of Thomas A.Becket, Lady Jane Gray, Margaret Pole, Sir
Walter Raleigh and many others. Other famous ghost was that of Anna Boleyn, who
was beheaded in the tower in 1536. Her ghost was spotted many times on Tower
Green and Tower Chapel Royal carrying her head. Today, this World Heritage site
is guarded by Historic Royal palace and giving a spine-chilling experience to

Wotten-Under-Edge, a market town in the Stroud district of Glousestershire,
England, this ancient building stands as an ultimate haunted hotel in the
country. There is a legend that this land drives spiritual energy into it from
the ancient site, Stonehenge. Additionally, this land served as a burial ground
for approximately 5000 years. One of the most popular legend involving with
this hotel is that of a witch who was burnt alive at the stake and her spirit
haunts the building who went against Christianity. Moreover, many spiritual
activities and ritual sacrifices were found evident. John Humphries, the
current owner of this inn claimed that he discovered skeletons of children
along with the small broken daggers under the staircase. Staying at this inn

translates to "The Sea of Trees" and is also called "Suicide
Forest". There are many old tales linked to this forest, but that doesn't
alone bring the sinister reputation as perhaps due to the fact that it is the
third largest suicidal spot in the world. According to some the supernatural
forces in the forest beckon the people who come to commit suicides. It is said
that the souls of those people would relentlessly haunt the forest. Moreover,
it is believed that it was a popular place for practicing ubasute, a custom of
abandoning the sick alone in the forest and left to die and their souls haunt
the forest. Beside this, the eerie look, loneliness and darkness of
the fores would definitely make anyone's spine chilling!!

900 years, this ancient building got reputed as the Scotland's most haunted
place. There were many claims by visitors, including sudden drops in
temperature, shadowy figures, a feeling of something touching them and a
feeling of being watched. Over the years, there were many reports of apparitions including the headless drummer, piper, a phantom dog,
spirits of Lady Glamis and Janet Douglass. Moreover, in the 16th century, a witch
was burnt alive in the stakes. A largest paranormal investigation about the
building took place in 2001 and nearly half of the reported phenomena could
not be explained. Many ghost hunters and paranormal societies continue to
investigate to provide an indisputable evidence which would make it the most haunted
place of Europe.

India :
India is a homeland
of many mysteries and lore which are unexplained. The village
Bhangarh is found in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, India. The pre-historic
fort in this village was built by King Madho Singh. According to the legend,
there was a wizard who was well versed with the occult was in love with the
princess of Bhangarh, Ratnavati. The wizard used the black magic against the
princess, but the princess who was aware of him, foiled his plan. His own magic
turned against him and he died cursing the residents that all would die an
unnatural death and their spirits and their spirits would haunt the castle
forever. It is said that whoever visits after dusk would never be returned and
additionally, this freaky palace was declared as the India's most haunted place
by the Government of India.
